What can I expect during the session?

My style is pretty relaxed and casual, but I’m in it 100% and get pretty obsessed with details. I know how important a great headshot is. My primary focus is natural eye contact with the camera that doesn’t feel forced. I’m good at getting that from all kinds of people and don’t stop until we achieve it.

From the time you arrive, we’ll collaborate and work together, talking about options, and often looking at photos as we go. This helps refine what we’re doing and makes sure you’re involved in the entire process.

The thing I hear from almost every client is how confident they feel after the session and that my energy helped get rid of any nerves they had coming in. I’m fortunate that I don’t rely on any photographer “tricks” and am genuinely interested in working together during the session instead of expecting clients to perform for the camera.

How quickly do I get my photos?

Most of the time, you’ll have your proof gallery the same day as your session. You can take your time deciding what photos you’d like retouched. After you choose, I’ll need about 5 business days to get the retouching turned around for you.

Do I get to keep all of my photos?

The short answer is no, but that's a good thing. Clients come to me when they want strong photos that they will be proud to use. If you end up liking extra photos enough to want to keep them, then they’re worth processing / retouching and I charge a small amount per photo for that, usually between $25 - $50 per photo.

What about physical prints?

Physical prints are not included with the cost of your headshot session, but you will get a high resolution digital copy of your retouched headshot.

If you need prints right away, I have a relationship with a top national photo lab, keeping the entire process as simple as possible for you.

All headshot packages include print-ready files, along with a release form that allows you to print your new headshot whenever and wherever you'd like.

What do I get with my session?
Which session should I book?

I get this question a lot, usually from people who are used to thinking about a certain number of "looks" or outfit changes in a session. I don't look at it like that. I am focused on quality over quantity. We'll work together to make sure you have what you need. If the stars align, that might only mean one outfit change. Sometimes it takes 3-4 changes to zero in on the best look. My pricing is based on giving you my full attention and talent to produce photos that will work for you.

Basic headshot sessions are around 2 hours and allow enough time for us to get down to the one or two headshots you're after. The basic session typically involves getting a primary headshot that you'll use the most, but also a great alternate. For actors this can mean something that works best for theater and another that's better for a commercial audition. For a business session, this can mean one shot that's more casual and another that's formal...or simply one with a smile and one without.

The multi-look session is usually close to 4 hours and more involved, This session is for people with a clear vision of the 4-6 photos they need for publicity or self-promotion.

Do I need a makeup artist?

The answer in most cases is no. I prefer headshots that read as real and suggest only doing your hair and makeup to the level you would for an audition or interview. Your headshots will be retouched in Photoshop, so don’t stress about blemishes or minor hair color issues. That said, if you feel more comfortable having someone at the session, I can help with that. Typically, the additional cost is around $120 - $150, with all of that money paid directly to the stylist.

Can I get my photos on a CD?

I don't provide photos on a disc, mostly because delivering them via email or a download from my website is so convenient.
